I'm just being stubborn about my hatred towards singlish, that's all. I spent a lot of time learning english. Usage of a language consists of two practices i.e. written and oral.
In writing practice, singlish ppl, hindustanlish ppl, scottishlish ppl, british ppl, American English ppl or any other ...LISH ppl will have so much in common, even we can say that those are the same.
They may differ in dialect and pronounciation...well it's so natural to me, different tongue causes different dialect, and so on. However they practice english much more than Indonesian ppl...in fact, in statistical percentage (without looking at educational or occupational backround), it's so obvious that english used by Sigaporean ppl in general is much more better than us in overall sides, it is proved from how they are well known accepted in English environment rather than indonesian ppl....don't say higher education, it's not a good comparison to me.

SO INDONESIA! DO MORE PRACTICE AND LEARN IN ENGLISH!

hmm it's really not the dialect that i was so busy ranting about. it's the usage of english itself! they don't use the proper grammar, proper vocab. they only use it's words to say whatever they think, however they want. luckily, they understand each other.

more ppl practice english in singapore? of course! singapore was once invaded by england. england made singapore their colony. introduce english to sing ppl. integrate it into their everyday's life. and sing is one of the best tourist attraction in the world. they have to learn a language that is widely accpeted by most ppl in the world. what is that? english, of course! but they don't use it properly. just so that english speaking ppl could understand what they're saying when they're trying to seel things to tourists. so most sing's only use english on the surface. they don't bother to learn it profoundly. merely scratching the surface...

but, mind you, i said most sing ppl. some are speaking very good english. a lot better than all of us here. a LOT! that's because as i said in my older posts, they're taking an education that requires them to learn n speak english more than other uneducated ppl, say... market trader, street hawker, etc.

of course there are some ppl (very few), who didnt take an advanced education, but could speak english very well. well these ppl are not what i was talking about...

according to my observation, most chinese, taiwanese, japanese and other mandarin-like culture, have a real hard time trying to learn english. i don't know why. maybe something they eat? hehe dunno...

i'm totally agree with a post from bro dexolgenk above me, stating that when an indonesian learn to speak english, they have a great potential to be very good, better than other asians who learn the same language.
