At the core of the lightweight Ninja 250R is an engine that thrives on high-rpm excitement. The gutsy 249cc parallel twin has been retuned to spice up its smooth and predictable power delivery. It now offers more low- and mid-range torque thanks to revisions to its dual overhead camshafts and a new 2-into-1 exhaust system. A silky smooth six-speed transmission tops off the sportbike equipment list, enabling the 250R to exploit a powerband that’s sure to please riders with its beginner friendly low-end grunt and a lively top-end rush that’ll keep seasoned veterans satisfied. The coup de’ grace, is its ability to deliver excellent fuel economy.

The 250R’s new fairing and windscreen not only look great, they deliver improved wind protection for a wide range of riding situations. This lightweight sportbike is loaded with even more rider-friendly features such as an easy-to-read instrument panel and positive neutral finder.
A natural riding position and comfortable ergonomics combined with its lightweight handling, easy controllability and improved throttle response make the 250R a pleasure to ride on city streets. Also new for 2008 are larger 17-inch wheels that offer great handling and improved stability. A larger 290mm front brake rotor is gripped by a powerful 2-piston caliper to provide a healthy dose of stopping power with a responsive feel at the lever. Like Kawasaki’s other sport models, the Ninja 250R is fitted with petal discs for efficient heat dissipation.

Akhir pekan lalu, Hendry Banderas yang sehari-hari tinggal di Bali
mampir ke rumah saya di Pondok Gede. Salah seorang komentator di
KafeMotor ini memang ada sedikit gawean di Jakarta jalan-jalan sambil
silaturahmi ke beberapa temen, termasuk saya. Saat bincang-bincang doi
menanyakan tentang prospek Ninja ZX250 yang sudah digembar-gembor sejak
pertengahan tahun ini. Tak dapat dipungkiri, sosok lite-moge ini
memincut hatinya.

Pihak KMI (Kawasaki Motor Indonesia) sendiri
jauh-jauh hari telah mengumumkan kehadiran sosok motor sport dengan cc
paling gede di jajaran ATPM tanah air. Di berbagai media kita jubir KMI
memastikan sekitar pertengahan tahun depan motor ini segera meluncur ke
pasar tanah air. Sontak saja rasa penasaran para bikers penggemar motor
laki segera memuncak.

Bayangkan saja, Ninja ZX250 bukanlah motor sport
yang pasaran di tanah air. Ini jika spek yang beredar luar di media
otomotif dan internet benar. Teknologi yang diusung cukup mumpuni untuk
merajai jalanan. Mesin menggunakan dua silinder paralel dan katup DOHC
yang diklaim bisa memuntahkan tenaga hingga 45hp dengan torsi
21.7Nm@10.000.. Karburator ganda dari Keihin dengan dimensi venturi
30mm diklaim bisa memasok cukup bahan bakar ke mesin dengan kompresi
11.6:1 tersebut. Alhasil mesin juga harus diademkan pendingin air yang
semakin menjadi favorit belakangan ini.

NEW KAWASAKI NINJA 250cc Kawak

Dari
sisi tampilan juga memuaskan. Berbeda dengan versi awal GPX250 yang
sempat diperlihatkan pada even PRJ tahun ini, Ninja ZX250 benar-benar
full dress up. Headlamp dan brakelamp, fairing, tangki, buntut dan side
body juga baru. Mengambil model sportbike modern yang memiliki sudut
tajam-tajam. Terkesan cepat dan lincah.

Kaki-kaki juga tidak mengecewakan velg palang enam
model baru. Basisnya mirip dengan salah satu model velg moge BMW. Ban
depan-belakang juga sudah cukup lebar 110/17 dan 130/17. Pecandu
modifikasi akan sangat gampang mengupgradenya ke ukuran yang lebih
gambot. Ukuran 110 depan dan 150 belakang cukuplah, hingga setara
dengan ban yang digunakan RS 125 atau Mito.

Dari sisi promo pihak KMI sudah melakukan
step-by-step yang bagus. Dimulai dengan pernyataan petinggi KMI yang
menyatakan akan mengeluarkan motor sport anyar dengan kapasitas mesin
250cc awal tahun ini. Tak lama kemudian mulailah muncul tampilan awal
GPX250 yang tak lain merupakan model lawas EX250 yang masih terus
diproduksi untuk kawasan Amerika dan Eropa. Responsnya sangat besar
dalam bentuk diskusi, pujian dan kritik. Tak lama setelah itu versi
prototipenya sudah muncul di internet dengan nuansa pengambilan gambar
candid camera di Italia. Terakhir launching motor ini di negeri
tetangga Thailand yang sempat dihadiri petinggi KMI.

Pertanyaanya sekarang kapan KMI merilis motor ini
untuk pasar Indonesia? Rupanya kita masih harus bersabar. Sebab KMI
belakangan menyatakan akan memasarkannya di akhir 2008. Tentu mundur
dari pernyataan sebelumnya pertengahan tahun.

Bagi anda yang berminat harap membuat saja
ancer-ancer 2 tahun lagi. Hitung-hitung kalau mundur dari akhir tahun
2008, toh sudah anda perkirakan. Jangan justru jadi kecewa karena
pemunduran tersebut. Ini berkaca dari pengalaman produk sejenis yang
baru launch tahun lalu. Honda Tiger Revo saja memakan waktu 3 tahun
baru menetas. Sementara Yamaha V-Ixion sempat molor sekitar satu tahun
dari rencana semula.

Namun jika anda memiliki dana lebih, tak ada
salahnya mengorder via IU (importer umum). Barang yang sudah dilaunch
di Thailand ini segera bisa anda miliki di garasi. Apalagi para pemain
IU sudah sangat berpengalaman bermain di produk lansiran negeri Gajah
Putih. Tinggal siapkan dana yang lumayan. Ya kira-kira 25% lebih mahal
dari estimasi KMI yang mencapai angka 38jt. So, kalo bisa cepat ngapain
nunggu. Bagi yang tak mau kecewa, sebaiknya membuat estimasi hingga 2
tahun lagi aja. Semoga lebih save bagi psikologi dan neraca keuangan
anda!
